For this edition of The Beauty Blow-Up, I thought it would be fun to give the PTSC readers a peek at my go-to beauty products. These are the things I keep in regular rotation and are lucky enough to have a place in my sparkly, sequinned cosmetics bag!
Makeup bag – Betseyville
I always have the basics on hand to even out and contour my face, protect it from the elements, and enhance my features (plus a few fun bonus features!). Neutral shadows are my day-to-day staple, and this custom palette from MAC allows me to create basic or glamorous looks depending on my mood. A handful of good brushes are key to good makeup application and I’ve acquired some that I really love over the years.
Bobbi Brown makeup brush kit, MAC eyeshadow quad with Brun/Satin Taupe/Mylar/Copperplate, Quo kabuki brush, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touh sunscreen SPF 70, MAC mineralize skinfinish in Soft and Gentle, CoverGirl Clean oil control pressed powder, Sephora powder brush.
Remember – a good highlighter can literally change your face, and keeping a sheer pressed powder close by can save your life when things start to get a little too shiny!
Clinique High Impact mascara sample, Smith’s Rosebud Salve, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb roller ball, MAC lipsticks in Myth & Watch Me Simmer, MAC paint pot in Groundwork.
I like to carry one neutral lipstick and one bright because it’s an easy way to change things up without putting on a whole new face. It also allows me to go from work to play with a quick swipe of lippy! That MAC paint pot performs double duty as a base shadow and lightly tinted lid primer.
MAC x Beth Ditto Powder to the People, smashbox High Definition concealer, smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting primer, smashbox Camera Ready bb cream.
These babies give me the confidence to show my face in the world each day. Green primer cuts through my red undertones, and I’ve become a huge fan of smashbox’s bb cream. That polka dotted powder on the left? My new obsession. It’s actually an all-in-one miracle product — I use it as blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow. Don’t ask me how it works…it just…does.
MAC large powder brush #150, MAC Eye Brows in Fling, Lancome Le Crayon Khol (black), MAC Powerpoint eye pencil in Stubborn Brown, MAC lip liner in Lasting Sensation.
Brow pencil is a new addition to my routine, but one that I now cannot live without. I like to store brown and black eyeliner in my bag because sometimes I find black too harsh, but often I add it over my brown when I want more intensity.
I feel a bit like I’m giving away all my secrets, but these products are just too good to keep to myself! Of course there is plenty more where that came from (my Sephora train case is kind of overflowing…), but having all my most-used in one place allows me to put my face in quickly and efficiently on busy mornings, and it’s easy to throw them into my gym bag or suitcase when I need to pack light!
Much love, Madison Blake
